Minutes
1. Call the town board meeting to order.
At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by
Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall.
2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice.
Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on May 9,
2010, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the
junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O
Lakes Road and County Trunk E, and at the junction of Blackburn Road
and County Trunk E between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
3. Roll call.
Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny
Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne
Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary
Emerson, Betty Seckora, Bob Swan, Mark Slavens, Lee Norton, Marcus
Mikla, Ben Hartmann, Kenneth Luty, David Schroeder, Leonard Nalty,
Sharon Clum, Diane Oman, Gerrit Van Pykeren, Kim Regner, and Mark
Regner.
4. Approval of agenda. Discussion and action.
Discussion followed , move item #12 between item # 7 and # 8. On
motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda as modified. Motion
carried.
5. Minutes of April 14, 2010 town board meeting and April 17, 2010
Road Tour. Discussion and action.
Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of April 14, 2010 town board meeting.
Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the minutes.
None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept minutes as
read. Motion carried. Minutes of April 17, 2010 Road Inspection Tour
read. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the
minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept
minutes as read. Motion carried.
6. Treasurer’s report and report of accounts receivable. Discussion
and action.
Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank – as of
03/31/10 $229,548.91. General Deposits $28,972.06. Interest
$165.29. Total Credits $258,686.26. Checks Returned $6,663.06.
Bank Statement Balance on 04/30/10 $252,023.20. Outstanding Checks
$476.00. Reconciled Balance on 04/30/10 $251,547.20. Discussion
followed. On motion by Swearingen / Bethel to accept treasurer’s
report as read. Motion carried.
7. Public comments.
None given.
12. Consideration of proposed ATV ordinance. Discussion and action.
Chairperson Bethel read the proposed ATV Route Ordinance, Number
2010 – 06. Discussion followed.
8. Zoning permits. Discussion and action.
None given.
9. Road Maintenance. Discussion and action.
a. Complaints and compliments.
None given.
b. Monthly report on spring road projects.
Chairperson Bethel gave a report on spring road projects. Monarch
Paving, planning to blacktop Loon Lake Road next week. Culvert
replacements also discussed.
10. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses.
Examination and action.
None given.
11. Plan Commission report on proposed Town “clean-up” day.
Discussion and action.
Dave Schroeder, Plan Commission member, gave a report on proposed Town
“clean-up” day. Discussion followed.
13. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending
upcoming workshops.
Discussion and action.
Chairperson Bethel attended the Wisconsin Towns Association Spring
Highway Workshop on April 20, 2010. Gene Bethel and Michael Wallace
attended the Washburn County Unit of WTA meeting on April 28, 2010.
14. Correspondence. Action and filing.
Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace /
Swearingen to file correspondence. Motion carried.
15. Paying of bills. Discussion and action.
Bill numbers 5264 – 5279 submitted to the board for approval.
The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by
Wallace / Swearingen to pay bill numbers 5264 – 5279. Motion
carried.
16. Set date for next town board meeting.
The next Town Board meeting will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 7:00
p.m., at the Casey Town Hall.
17. Adjournment.
At 8:53 p.m., on motion by Swearingen / Wallace to adjourn.
Motion carried.
