TOWN BOARD MEETING TOWN OF CASEY July 9, 2008 7:00 p.m. Minutes 1. Call the town board meeting to order. At 7:00 p.m., the town board meeting was called to order by Chairperson Gene Bethel, at the Casey Town Hall. 2. Confirmation of proper meeting notice. Chairperson Bethel posted the meeting notice and agenda on July 5, 2008, in the posting cabinets located at the town hall, at the junction of Dunn Lake and Island Lake Roads, at the junction of Pair O Lakes Road and County Trunk E and at the junction of Blackburn Road and County Trunk E between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. 3. Roll call. Roll call taken. Present: Gene Bethel, Chairperson; Danny Swearingen, Supervisor; Michael Wallace, Supervisor; Corinne Slabaugh, Clerk; Cherie Luell, Treasurer. Also in attendance: Mary Emerson, Terry Ormsby, and David Railsback. 4. Approval of agenda. Discussion and action. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to approve agenda. Motion carried. 5. Minutes of June 11, 2008 town board meeting. Discussion and action. Clerk Slabaugh read the minutes of June 11, 2008 town board meeting. Chairperson Bethel asked for additions or corrections to the minutes. None given. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried. 6. Treasurer’s report and report of accounts receivable. Discussion and action. Treasurer Luell gave the following report: In Johnson Bank – As of 05/31/08 in the checking account was $261,247.28. General Deposits $3,504.03. Interest $261.65. Total Credits $265,012.96. Checks Returned $16,153.96. Bank Statement Balance 06/30/08 $248,859.00. No Outstanding Checks. Reconciled Balance on 06/30/08 $248,859.00. Discussion followed. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to accept the treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried. 7. Public comments. Mary Emerson gave a report on the Casey Plan Commission Meeting, held on July 7, 2008. A question concerning Fireworks permits was raised. 8. Permits. Discussion and action. a. Zoning. None. b. Driveways. None. 9. Road maintenance. Discussion and action. a. Complaints and compliments. None. b. Monthly report on summer road projects. Supervisor Swearingen and Chairperson Bethel gave an update on summer road projects. Discussion followed. 10. Applications for Liquor, Cigarette, and Operators Licenses. Examination and action. Operator license applications from: Stefanie L Gage, Georganne Behn, Melissa A Breaker, and Kimberly R Regner. Board viewed operator license applications. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to grant operator licenses to the above persons. Motion carried. Clerk Slabaugh reported that operator licenses were not issued to Betsy J Lambert (has not attended the Responsible Beverage School) and Nancy R Kalinowski (has not held an Operator’s license for the past two years - last issued in June 2005 for period ending June 30, 2006). 11. Purchase and installation of new stove for the Town Hall. Discussion and action. Cherie Luell presented a description of a couple Empire Heaters from W. K. Appliance with an estimated cost of each unit. Discussion followed. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to Line Item transfer $1,300.00 from General Fund to Town Hall Fund and purchase an Empire Heater, Model No. RH-65CB-LP, from W. K. Appliance, Inc. Motion carried. 12. Report on workshops attended and those who will be attending upcoming workshops. Discussion and action. Upcoming Wisconsin Towns Association Summer 2008 Seminars will be August 2, 2008, at Cable. Danny Swearingen will plan to attend. 13. Correspondence. Action and filing. Correspondence read by the board. On motion by Wallace / Swearingen to file correspondence. Motion carried. 14. Paying of bills. Discussion and action. Bills numbers 4810 – 4830 submitted to the board for approval. The board discussed and initialed each bill approved. On motion by Bethel / Wallace to pay bills numbers 4810 – 4830. Motion carried. 15. Set date for next town board meeting. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., at the Casey Town Hall. 16. Adjournment. At 8:32 p.m., on motion by Wallace / Swearingen to adjourn. Motion carried.
